WCRB’s 2024 Seniors Helping Seniors annual fundraiser.
This holiday season, help us help others by supporting our Seniors Helping Seniors fundraising drive.
Details:
From November 15th through December 15th, WCRB Karate will sell Tai Chi gift certificates for $19.95. All proceeds will be given to Bay Aging, an organization dedicated to helping seniors with various needs. Your tax-deductible purchase can be written off at the end of the year! You can take the class yourself, give it to a friend, or allow us to donate the certificate to someone in need for you.
Because of Tai Chi’s soothing, calming, relaxing, and stimulating nature, giving someone a Tai Chi gift certificate is like giving them a day at a spa.
What is Tai Chi, and why is it good for seniors?
Harvard Health Publishing, Harvard Medical School

Tai chi is often described as “meditation in motion,” but it might well be called “medication in motion.” There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice, which originated in China as a martial art, has value in treating or preventing many senior health problems, such as:
- Reduces stress Better sleep weight loss cognition
- Improves mood Improves balance Parkinson’s
- Heart disease arthritis Fibromyalgia COPD Alzheimer’s
At W CRB we believe that although the benefits of seniors taking martial arts are profound, research has determined that the practice of martial arts for seniors can be “cost prohibited”, because at an average cost of $200. per month many seniors cannot afford to take lessons because they are on a fixed income. We aim to remove much of the cost burden associated with practicing martial arts.
